Meet Gary Cassell

Q. Tell me a little about yourself. Describe your background and how long you have worked for the agency.

I hale from the great city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have 4 adult children and a tribune of grandchildren

My work history includes: Law enforcement, Hillsborough Schools, Case management, Child Protective Services, Probation & Parole.

I’ve been employed by the agency for over eight years, I’ve held several position during this time and for the past three years I’ve been the agency’s Housing Specialist

Q. How do you help families?

I’ve been assigned the task of assisting our families with locating safe, decent and sanitary housing and educating them on how to maintain/safe guard their housing. While this task is delightful and at times very challenging, I do know that housing education & assistance is a service that’s very much needed in our community.

There are many families that are currently without shelter/homeless and/or residing in places that are unfit for human habitation. Stable housing is one of the components of sustained self sufficiency and independence for our families.
